Building on its successful PRISMA range of print production workflow software, Canon Europe today introduces PRISMAprepare Go, a secure, cloud-based job submission and file preparation tool for small in-house and commercial print service providers (PSPs).

PRISMAprepare Go, delivered on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, allows customers to access this affordable workflow product from anywhere, given access to internet and a web browser. For channel partners, PRISMAprepare Go requires no IT expertise or specialised training for its installation, management, and maintenance. Offering a straightforward new revenue stream that can be easily implemented and configured remotely without any additional costs.

With the small PSP market segment yet to make any significant investment in online job submission and pre-press tools, it remains a relatively untapped opportunity for channel partners. PRISMAprepare Go is ideal for upselling into existing customers, increasing value and retention, and to enhance the ROI of the end-to-end solution when prospecting for new business. The application supports Canon production printers whether driven by PRISMAsync, Fiery or Canon PDL, as well as third-party generic JDF printers.

The new tool speeds up the process of bringing in customer jobs, fast checking their print readiness and performing basic pre-flight checks for issues such as incorrect or missing page size, formatting, fonts, and image resolution. This helps to eliminate mistakes, reduces costly misprints, and saves valuable time.

Customers access PRISMAprepare Go through PRISMA Home, the new portal at the heart of all the PRISMA applications and tools. Running on the Microsoft® Azure platform with its robust security features which provides reliable, safe, and secure service access and to PRISMA Cloud Storage, where users can store their customer data and job files. Through PRISMA Home, channel partners can independently set up their customers in minutes as users, manage their subscriptions and view their usage, while their PSP customers can view their subscriptions, manage their internal users and contact their channel partner.

Easy on-line job submission

PRISMAprepare Go includes a customer-facing job submission portal that PSPs can brand as their own, making it straightforward for customers to send jobs online. PSPs can create their own layout for job onboarding, quickly set up internal administrator and operator accounts, and individual customer accounts.

For print buyers, or internal stakeholders in the case of in-house print rooms, a drag-and-drop feature makes it easy to submit single or multiple PDF files and additional instructions, prior to them being accepted for production. The portal also allows them to track their job status online, doing away with time-consuming email and phone communications and freeing up time.

The PSP has an instant view of incoming jobs, streamlining communication and cutting out the often-unseen costs of intervening to correct faulty files, while print buyers will value the ability to submit jobs online, encouraging repeat jobs and building loyalty.

David Preskett, Vice President, Document Solutions Sales, Canon Europe comments: “It’s a daily challenge for small print operations to manage an increasing variety of short-run print jobs against tight deadlines, while also trying to attract and retain customers and stay profitable. By offering PRISMAprepare Go as our first SaaS workflow product, we’re making it easy and affordable for any print business to automate job submission, processing and production, without investing in complex on-premise software or IT skills. And for in-house printers, PRISMAprepare Go offers a new level of automation and professionalism and gives them time to add value to their internal customers through the development of new services.

“It’s also a great business opportunity for Canon channel partners and a chance to foster new relationships and create future upselling opportunities. With low monthly subscriptions and no upfront cost, partners can now help any print customer take a positive step to simplify processes, improve their service, tackle errors and waste and focus on driving growth. Automation just became accessible for everyone.”
