Made up of an all-star cast of print industry professionals, the IPIA Council is a dynamic group that drive the initiatives and activities of the Association. Elected by the Membership every two years, the role of the Council is to ensure their interests are represented and that the IPIA is carrying out its fundamental mission, which can be broken down into four key areas:
President
Portland Media
On joining the IPIA in 2008 it claimed to be the No.1 place to network and increase industry connections. After 15 years of networking, I can look back and confirm that to be true.
On many occasions I have met someone through the IPIA that has made a real difference to my business and without doubt made me feel as if I am part of the wider print community. As with anything in life, you reap what you sow, join in, attend events and the benefits will come.
Chair

The IPIA works very hard to advocate for, and strengthen the long-term future of, the UK print industry.
I have been involved with the Research Subcommittee for example, which looks to transfer to the print industry ‘intelligence gathering’ methods more usual in other fields – that we can use to educate print buying markets effectively about the power and effectiveness of print.
Others like Innovation and Sustainability are investigating issues that are clearly important to all members and I very much enjoy supporting my fellow Council members on projects designed to support UK print.

CDP Print Management
I am a strong advocate for the print industry and find that my values align perfectly with those of the IPIA. You do not really appreciate the IPIA’s level of activity and promotion for the sector, until you are part of the council who are all like minded volunteers. The recent visits to No 10 are a testament to the work going on behind the scenes to help secure and further our Industry.
Sponsorship Committee - Chair
EDWPS
Being an IPIA member is a no-brainer for any print related business, it’s great value for money and offers a wide range of member benefits that are genuinely useful, easily accessed and well under standard market rates.
The networking opportunities are also a massive plus, either through conferences or more informal events, it opens up a broad audience to interact with and develop new business or supply partners.
Networking and Collaboration Committee - Chair
Imprint
Imprint has been providing solutions to the industry almost as long as I’ve been on this planet.
We are very proud to use our knowledge and experience in a variety of different types of print in the industry to add real benefit to the IPIA and its members, assisting its amazing work to strengthen the print industry for the long-term.
Market Development and Advocacy Committee - Chair
Latcham
Latcham has chosen the IPIA as our Trade Organisation as we provide Print Management, Print and Fulfilment service and the IPIA provides a fantastic suit of resources and a fantastic group of pears whom we can work with to continue to develop our sector.
The team at the IPIA are fantastic advocates for our industry ensuring that our voice is heard at the highest level.
Standards and Best Practice Committee - Chair
Tradeprint
Tradeprint has been an active member of the IPIA for the last few years and I’m a great believer in ‘you get out of it what you put in’ and as such I was delighted to be elected as a Council Member late last year (2023). The IPIA is a well-structured group of ‘doers’ and I couldn’t be happier to get involved. Collaboration across our amazing industry especially regarding Sustainability is personally and professionally important to me and it’s great to be involved with the team that share my vision and values.
The IPIA provide a great platform to evangelise about our industry across its many sectors and I hope to continue to add value and enthusiasm and support members through what can sometimes be challenging times.
With a focus on adding value to the membership I think the return on investment for the modest membership fees is excellent!
Past President and Chair
Spectrum Plastics
Being an IPIA member has given me access to so many opportunities that just would not have presented themselves otherwise.
From chatting with the inspirational business coach Peter Docker at an IPIA event which led to being included in his book, “Leading from the Jump Seat”, to making a podcast with Canon – membership has raised our profile enormously. I consider an invaluable aspect of IPIA membership to be their direct channel to the Government. The ability for members to report the challenges facing business owners and the print industry per se to the team, which are then communicated back to the government in order to facilitate change, make membership worth every penny.
Past President and Chair
PMG Print Management
I joined the IPIA after I’d left what was Alimac/Williams Lea, as I’ve always felt an affinity with the IPIA through Alimac being founder members.
As a near start up business back in ’03 I wanted to connect to a wider supplier network, learn from my peers but also be part of a successful association. Joining the council presented an opportunity to contribute to the association’s growth, and to create a positive impact on the membership and wider industry.
Past President and Chair
Allwag Promotional Merchandise
The IPIA has time and time again been there when we need it the most – for business support, for business growth, for time critical information – they never fail to impress me.
Their networking is genuinely off the chart in terms of creating the right environment for meaningful, professional connections. Through the IPIA I have made countless new business connections and a high number of these people I am delighted to call my friend. I love the infectious passion that the IPIA team all bring to the industry – never afraid to ask the difficult questions or go the extra mile to get the members exactly what they need!
Transeo Media
Since joining the IPIA in 2019, the Transeo team have been thoroughly impressed with the energy and drive of the IPIA to embrace their membership and push the printing industry forward.
Their dedication to providing members with valuable resources and support, as well as promoting innovation within the industry, has been invaluable to our business. The IPIA truly understands the challenges and opportunities that printing companies face and is always looking for ways to support its members in overcoming these challenges and capitalising on opportunities. Overall, we highly recommend the IPIA to anyone looking to join a vibrant community of like-minded printing professionals who are passionate about innovation, collaboration and sustainability. The benefits of membership are numerous, and we are confident that any company will find value in joining the IPIA.

Being part of the IPIA Council has provided me with first hand experience of a body which can truly influence the future and success of our sector.
Culturally, the IPIA’s approach is new, fresh and innovative, and most recently it has been offered the opportunity to lobby the government; a real testament to its ability to make a difference. IPIA members are genuinely characterised by their commitment to success and sustainability of our Industry, and a real desire for positive change.
Antalis has enjoyed a strong relationship with the IPIA for a number of years and I was honoured to join the council in 2020.
Championing the benefits, importance and power of print within and outside of the industry, the association not only offers support and guidance, but has delivered us countless opportunities to network, grow business and be part of an evolving community of passionate professionals. Being part of this community is a complete pleasure, and I look forward to the future as part of it.

Most testimonials seem to start with a superlative, but “great to see”, “fantastic that” and “brilliant to”…. don’t do the work of the Independent Print Industries Association (IPIA) enough justice.
The passion and care for the print industry, the creative thinking and relentless effort are “outstanding”. Their work with the UK Government, which gained a lot of momentum during lock-down and has continued as a two way conversation since, is really inspiring and impactful. Charles Rogers, Graeme Smith and Brendan Perring lead a team of staff and volunteers that truly make a difference. Well done!
Webmart
I was first introduced to the IPIA by a fellow member back in 2018 and was asked to join the council shortly afterwards.
My time at the IPIA has been nothing but rewarding, in terms of making new connections, discovering new opportunities and developing my understanding of the industry as a whole. The IPIA as an organisation has countless tangible benefits alongside the support it offers and the members are truly passionate about all things print! There’s always someone available to chat through an idea or make a recommendation for a contact who can support taking something further. I’m proud to see how far we’ve come over the last 7 years and excited for what’s to come!
Compass Business Finance
The IPIA’s commitment to innovation and excellence, along with its invaluable networking opportunities, has massively benefited me and the organisations I’ve worked for over the past 20 years.
I would recommend membership of the IPIA to anyone working in print both for their personal advantage and that of the industry as a whole.
Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK
The IPIA is a powerful and tireless advocate for the UK print industry and its wider supply chain.
We are immensely proud to have worked alongside the IPIA on its New Narrative for Print project, collaborating with industry partners to champion the message that print drives engagement and triggers action. By working collectively with the IPIA and its partners, we can help reshape perceptions of print and secure long-term support for the industry.
Changing minds is fundamental to stimulating demand, growing the market, and reinforcing print’s relevance in a multi-channel world. That is why Konica Minolta is fully committed to the IPIA and its mission to support our industry to thrive.
Nutshell Creative
I love the values that the IPIA stand for – to Connect, Inspire and Amaze our industry. Why wouldn’t I get involved?
As a council member, I see first-hand the vital role the IPIA plays in supporting, connecting, and championing our industry. The IPIA is not just a representative body – it is an active advocate, working tirelessly to ensure print’s voice is heard, understood, and valued at every level.
What sets the IPIA apart is its ability to bring the supply chain together with clarity of purpose. Through initiatives like The New Narrative for Print, it challenges outdated perceptions, presents compelling evidence of print’s effectiveness, and helps the industry articulate its value with confidence and consistency.
The IPIA also provides practical support, insight, and a powerful network that enables members to collaborate, learn, and grow. In an increasingly complex and competitive landscape, that collective strength is invaluable.
For any business operating within print, the IPIA is not just relevant – it is essential.
The IPIA was formed in 1990 as a not-for-profit trade association focused on helping its members grow and develop their businesses. Constantly evolving and adapting to contemporary market demands, it delivers ongoing value, support and counsel to members through a comprehensive range of benefits, services, events and publications.
In particular, the IPIA assumes a crucial role as an industry ambassador championing print, both at Government level and also to major print buying sectors such as marketing. We are deeply committed to supporting our members and our industry.
We pursue this commitment by helping businesses expand their horizons, grow using targeted member collaboration, adapt to ever evolving market forces, and thrive through mutual support.
The value proposition of the IPIA is that its Executive and Council work hard to make sure every member is pushed to take advantage of all relevant core member benefits and then presented with the specific suite of opportunities to aid business growth appropriate to them they can pick and choose as it suits them.
