Whistl, the UK’s leading logistics specialists in e-fulfilment, mail and parcels has expanded its Parcelhub brand into the West Midlands with the opening of a new depot just off the M5 in Smethwick, near West Bromwich.
The new 14,000 sq. ft. Depot will offer SME’s, mid-market online retailers and brands in the West Midlands a more regional and personalised service with local collections and consolidation of their parcel volume through one point of contact rather than multiple carriers. By using Parcelhub, customers will benefit from attractive carrier rates which have been secured for both Parcelhub and Whistl Parcels customers.
14 jobs will initially be created with the opening of the new depot, with more opportunities expected. Roles include depot management, collections drivers and warehouse operators.
Customers will be served by Parcelhub’s recently announced electric van fleet with electric charging infrastructure installed into the depot as part of the fit out of the site.
Parcelhub now covers both East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire, East London and Essex and will look to support E-commerce businesses in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton from the new depot.
Alistair Cochrane, CEO Whistl, said:
“Due to the demand from customers in the West Midlands for our localised Parcelhub service, we are pleased to open the new 14,000 sq. ft. depot in Smethwick. We will be serving the area with our new electric vans which will further enhance our ability to help customers meet their sustainability targets.”
