Canon at the ACPME Conference

At the annual ACPME Conference which took place between 13th-15th May 2024 at the Vale Resort in Cardiff, Canon took the opportunity as a platinum sponsor to highlight their extensive portfolio and how it supports higher education.

The theme for this year’s event was “Collaborate. Communicate. Create. – We’re in this together”, focusing on how critical it is to work together through collaboration, communicating effectively for maximum impact and creating something different and unique with design, print and photography.

Canon’s theme “Believe to achieve” which – showcasing a range of products collaboratively on the stand allowing delegates to really engage and experience Canon products and samples first hand.

What was on display?

ColorWave 3800 device live in full effect!

This year the ColorWave was utilised for the second year in a row, attracting a lot of engagement and showcasing the quality of the output across a range of different media. The speed and ease of use of the device really impressed some delegates. They were also provided files to experience how easy it is to use the device as a self-service for students/staff.

Imaging Supplies

Along with the ColorWave we also had a media rack which highlighted the variety of media hung which highlighted the carbon neutral range to support sustainability goals and objectives across the industry in reducing environmental impact.

Professional Print

A range of sample packs were on display for delegates to get a feel of the quality and variety of applications printed on the imagePRESS V1350, V100 and V900 colour presses and varioPRINT 140 Quartz black and white presses. There was a lot of engagement around how the automated technology, speed of the device and consistent quality can help save time, boost productivity and provide more possibilities with new applications.

Cameras & Lenses

There was also a lot of attention on the wide range of cameras on display, an attraction point for attendees who asked many technical questions on the cameras and lenses and were ably assisted by the Canon expert on hand.

The stand also displayed the fast A3 production scanner which is capable of speeds of up to 200 images per minute with capabilities from 20,000 to 55,000 scans per day. The device is operated using an easy-to-use software and supports sustainability goals with certifications to help reduce environmental impact.

Canon Supplier Showcase – Justin McAteer (Production Print Account Manager)

As part of our platinum sponsorship, we had the opportunity to present a 10-minute presentation to the attendees as a supplier to the education sector. Justin McAteer stepped up to deliver a fantastic presentation which looked at simple and cost effective solutions to save money and meet customer needs. Justin presented on how Canon supports organisations to meet their needs by demonstrating different end-to-end workflows to support exam paper output. From simple to complex workflows, touching on the security embedded within Canon’s PRISMA software. The presentation was well received, and the stand gained more attention; including a visit by the Chair of the ACPME who provided positive feedback and showed interest in Canon.

Award sponsorship – Best In-house Photography

Canon also sponsored the “Best in-house photography” award at the ACPME awards evening. This was presented by Stephen Moody, Canon’s Sector Director for Education, to the winner on the night. Sponsoring the photography award was a must as Canon cameras are very popular not just in education but across several sectors.

The ACPME Conference was a great event which allowed Canon to highlight their portfolio and collaborate with the audience of creative and print managers in education. We look forward to more events like these in the future and continue to push Canon to the forefront in the print industry.
