National Lockdown, 5th November - Government Guidance and Employment Advice

Please find below a number of important new initiatives launched by the Government to support a wider swathe of businesses in the UK and also a number of key extensions and updates to existing schemes.

Please make sure to read through these carefully and ensure you are complying with new legislation if you have claimed support in the past, but now realise it was not required in retrospect. Our understanding is the Government will begin the process of support claim audits in the near future.  If you would like guidance and support on any of these schemes please do not hesitate to get in contact with us.

 

New National Restrictions from 5 November

Information on the new national restrictions, including what they mean for working from home and business closures, why they are being introduced and the financial support available.

 

Check if you can claim for your employees’ wages through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

Find out if you’re eligible and how much you can claim to cover wages for employees on temporary leave (‘furlough’) due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

 

Check if you can claim back Statutory Sick Pay paid to employees due to coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you’re an employer, find out if you can use the Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme to claim back employees’ coronavirus-related Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).

The scheme has been updated so employers can ask for a ‘shielding note’ or a letter from their doctor or health authority advising them to shield because they’re at high risk of severe illness from coronavirus.

 

Defer your Self Assessment payment on account due to coronavirus (COVID-19)

Check what you need to do after 31 July 2020 if you chose to defer your second payment on account for the 2019 to 2020 tax year.

 

Coronavirus and the latest indicators for the UK economy and society: 15 October 2020

Early experimental data on the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the UK economy and society. These faster indicators are created using rapid response surveys, novel data sources and experimental methods.

 

Return to your claim for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme

Use the online service to check the status of your payment, if you think the grant amount is too low or HMRC have asked you to update your details for your claim.
