The true test of a print industry technology supplier is its ability to adapt to continuously changing market demand patterns and a rapidly evolving industry and continue to deliver relevant solutions to its customers.
Founded in 1951, Vacuumatic is just such a business as it celebrates its 70th birthday. Alan Gillet, Sales and Service Executive at Vacuumatic takes up the story: “Set up as a division of Portals, the security paper makers, we were tasked with developing and manufacturing machines to count security bank note papers.
“Fast forward 70 years, and we are still supplying the worlds security printers with our range of paper counting machines, along with commercial printers who benefit from the accuracy and reliability of machines designed to be 100 percent accurate.”
Vaccumatic’s portfolio of machines now extends to different technologies:
- The original Pin and Blade design using vacuum to separate each sheet
- Disc method of counting which also uses vacuum to separate each sheet
- Camera technology, which looks at the edge of a stack and determines how many sheets are present, for use in the plastic card sector
- Variable Thickness Friction Feeders to count, batch and in-feed into process machinery
- A large range of Tab Inserters for use on Printing Presses and converting machinery
- A range of web marking devices for the reel-to-reel industry
Alan continues: “Vacuumatic have a counting machine to cover almost all requirements of the graphic arts and other industries. “We constantly reinvest in research and development to keep up-to-date with new technologies. For example, we have recently launched a colour camera version of our Count-S optical counter to enable a wider range of materials to be counted, and also the TCF2, our Friction feeder which can now feed products up to 15mm thick following requests from the mailing industry. “Thank you to all our valued customers, past and present, for inspiring and supporting us all these years. Without the help of yours, our journey would never be so successful and we very much look forward to continuing to provide solutions for our customers for many more years to come. Thank you for being with us.”
