In honour of Abbot Print’s 100th anniversary, it is about now you should be seeing pictures of the BBQ and Hog Roast they had planned for staff, customers and suppliers to Abbot Print. A live jazz band was due to get feet dancing in the afternoon and early evening, the weather would have been lovely. The impact of a free bar may have been telling its own story.
As it is they, like other companies, are now dancing to the tune of that ‘great disrupter’ the Covid-19 virus.

100 years ago they were in the beginning of the Great Depression (or Great Slump) – which arguably began in the UK at the end of the First World War and went on for twenty years. It was in those uncertain times that the Abbot began.
Now, one hundred years on from incorporation, they are trying to adjust for a new challenging business landscape. What will be the new normal; the impact on staff and products? How will customers and suppliers adjust? What is there they have not yet realised?
It would be usual to celebrate a 100 year anniversary by continuing to look back at what has been achieved. On this occasion, Abbot feel it is more important to look forward. They will be signing up to the IPIA’s #PunchBackPrint online conference to listen to others and take advice.
They will use their 100th birthday to be no more than mindful that under previous leadership, Abbot has always found a way through. 100 years. No pressure!
