Boulogne-Billancourt, March 31st 2020 – The winners of the Antalis Interior Design Award – organised by Antalis, Europe’s leading distributor of paper, visual communication and packaging solutions – have been revealed.
Celebrating creativity in the field of personalised decoration
Aimed at interior designers, architects, printers, advertisers and design students, the second edition of the Antalis Interior Design Award competition provided a platform for participants to let their imaginations run loose and express their creativity.
With 535 projects published by creatives from 24 countries on the Antalis Interior Design Award website, the judges were impressed by the quality and breadth of entries.
Among the winning entries,Marion Delage, co-founder of decoration company Parégrine, and illustrator Mariana Castillo, impressed the jury with their project titled “Youse city mural” in the Office category. Through this cheerful and warm illustration printed on wallpaper, Marion Delage and Mariana Castillo aimed to represent both the company’s values and team, to make them feel proud of their workspace. They commented: “We are delighted with this award. Thanks to the creative possibilities digitally printed wall decoration presents, it is possible to differentiate oneself and transform living spaces into brand ambassadors.
“The fact that a major player in the world of visual communication such as Antalis has welcomed our project is a great mark of confidence and recognition.”
In the Retail category, Morad Biki’s entry was a striking mise en scène created on the wall of a building. He says: “We chose the Coala Walk & Wall range to meet Zadig & Voltaire’s request to apply visuals on the walls of buildings surrounding their flagship stores. Antalis’ Coala Walk & Wall solution is ideal because it is slip resistant, waterproof, easy to install and remove on any kind of surface, including glass and concrete, without damage.” He adds: “Beyond the effectiveness of Antalis’ solutions and the expertise of its teams, Antalis also allows us to test the solutions before buying them, which is a considerable advantage.”
Loes Kok won the prize in the Hospitality category for his makeover of Fred’s kitchen, a fashionable restaurant in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He says: “We wanted to give the interior of this chic restaurant an edgier look and “street” vibe to match the trendy neighbourhood where old warehouses have been converted into loft style apartments, boutiques and restaurants. To achieve this, and to add colour to the place, we chose to cover the wall with a giant street art visual”. He adds: “We chose Coala wallpaper with a leather look and feel to add texture to the image. We are very happy with the result: the place looks harmonious, chic and modern at the same time.”
Christophe Burckart, CEO France & Monaco IWG, describes the winning projects as “inspiring, innovative and disruptive.”
Yann Mignot, Associate Creative Director at Saguez & Partners comments: «I was very surprised by the quality of the projects, I found that there was a lot of creativity and, above all, a lot of different uses of the product.”
Beyond the creativity required for a successful project, judge Sari Myohanen, Senior Designer Home & Environment at Peclers Paris, stresses the importance of the choice of format: “Large format printing is a fantastic medium for expression. It can be used for all kinds of surfaces, including floors and ceilings, providing almost unlimited creative freedom. With Coala WallDesign’s interesting selection of textures and finishes along with its ease of removal, the possibilities are endless!”
Xavier Jouvet, Group Marketing & Purchasing Director at Antalis states:
“With the Antalis Interior Design Award competition, we wanted to support the development of printing technologies and showcase the ways in which they are able to open up a wealth of innovative possibilities for professionals working in the field of personalised interior design.
