Two commercial printers invest in capability, confidence and partnership as Jet Tech Group delivers more than just technology.
In today’s commercial print landscape, investment decisions are no longer defined purely by speed, quality or cost per sheet. They are shaped by something more fundamental – how technology, expertise and support come together to help businesses evolve.
That philosophy sits at the heart of Jet Tech Group’s recent partnerships with Entwistle Group and Shanleys, two established UK printers who have both strengthened their digital print capability – not simply through new equipment, but through a consultative approach designed to unlock long-term growth.
“We don’t see ourselves as a supplier of machines. Our role is to understand the business, understand where the pressures are, and then build a solution around that. The press is just one part of a much bigger picture.”
Andrew Crane, Director of Jet Tech Group
Efficiency, capability and creative potential
For Entwistle Group, a business spanning both small-format digital and wide-format production, the challenge was not a lack of capability, but how to refine and optimise it.
With a strong reputation for delivering end-to-end services – from design through to print, finishing and installation – the business had built a diverse production environment. However, rising production costs and increasing reliance on specialist operators prompted a reassessment of its small format digital strategy.
“They had a very capable setup,” says Crane, who continues: “But like a lot of businesses, they were asking – how do we maintain that quality while improving efficiency, reducing cost and making the operation easier to run day to day?”
The answer came through the installation of a Fujifilm Revoria PC1120, paired with enhanced inline finishing from Plockmatic. But crucially, the conversation extended far beyond the specification of the press itself.
“We looked at everything,” says Crane, who continues: “Automation, workflow, finishing, even how jobs were coming into the business. It became a much wider discussion about how we could help them operate smarter.”
“What stood out with Jet Tech was that it never felt like a sales process. It was a conversation about our business – where we were, where we wanted to go, and what needed to change to get there.”
Mark Bell, Sales Director at Entwistle Group
The introduction of the Revoria PC1120 has enabled Entwistle to retain the high-end output it previously achieved, including specialist applications using white and metallics, while significantly improving cost efficiency and ease of use.
“The automation has made a real difference,” says Paul McGrath, Print Production Manager, who continues: “We’re not relying on the same level of specialist intervention, and we’re producing work more consistently and efficiently as a result.”
The move to inline booklet making has also streamlined production, removing manual handling and reducing turnaround times.
“We’re now producing finished work in a single pass,” says McGrath, who continues: “That takes pressure off the team and allows us to focus on delivering more value to the customer.”
Beyond the immediate gains, the partnership has opened up new creative opportunities. With expanded colour capabilities and the ability to explore additional embellishments, Entwistle is actively developing new applications to bring to market.
“They’ve really embraced what the technology can do,” says Crane, who continues: “But more importantly, we’re working with them to turn those capabilities into commercial opportunities.”
Bell agrees: “We’re not just running jobs differently. We’re thinking differently about what we can offer. That’s where the real value is.”
Trust, reliability and support
While Entwistle’s journey was driven by optimisation and expansion, Shanleys’ investment reflects a different, but equally important dynamic – trust.
The Bolton-based commercial printer has installed a second digital press, a Fujifilm Revoria EC2100S – paired inline with a second Plockmatic bookletmaker – to increase productivity and capacity.
“This wasn’t about chasing the latest thing,” says Crane, who continues: “It was about finding the right fit for the business – something that delivered reliability, efficiency and the flexibility to keep producing high-quality work.”
The decision was rooted in maintaining the standards Shanleys is known for, while improving how work flows through the business:
“We’ve built our reputation on quality and service. We needed a solution that supported that.”
Martin Cropper, Managing Director, Shanleys
The Revoria EC2100S delivers consistent, high-quality output across a wide range of applications, while the inline Plockmatic bookletmaker enables finished products to be produced in a single, seamless process.
“Having the second bookletmaker inline has again increased our efficiency and capacity – providing us with a backup solution to ensure we can keep delivering at a high level for our customers,” says Paul Wilkinson, Production Director, who continues: “Jobs come off finished, which removes a lot of manual handling and keeps everything moving.”
Wilkinson also highlights that the addition of fifth colour capability, including clear toner for specialist booklet applications, has also enhanced Shanleys’ offering: “It gives us that extra edge. We can produce work that stands out, without adding complexity to the process.”
However, as with Entwistle, the technology itself is only part of the story says Crane: “This was very much about the relationship. We’ve worked with the team for a long time, so there was already trust there. But it’s what happens after installation that really defines the partnership.”
Since installation, Wilkinson explains the focus has been on ensuring the technology delivers “sustained value”, he adds: “Uptime, consistency and support have all been excellent. It’s taken stress out of the production environment, which is just as important as the output itself.”
Crane concludes: “Our job doesn’t stop when the machine goes in. We stay close to the customer, making sure they’re getting the most out of it and supporting them as their needs evolve.”
