The IPIA is delighted to announce its next high-profile debate, taking place on Wednesday 9th July at the House of Commons, Westminster.

Chaired by Rachel Gilmour MP — Vice President of The Debating Group — this prestigious event will bring together leading voices from the marketing and advertising sectors to argue for and against the motion: “Campaigns that include print are more effective.”

The debate is free to attend, with tickets available now via Eventbrite. Advance registration is essential to gain access to the House of Commons.

Starting promptly at 17:00 in Committee Room 12, the debate will see four senior industry professionals go head-to-head to win over the audience.

Representing the IPIA and speaking in favour of the motion are:

Angus George, Executive Creative Director, Ogilvy UK and Co-Creative Lead, Ogilvy One UK

Gemma Greaves, Founder, Nurture

Challenging the motion will be:

Missy Clements, Client Experience Director, 7DOTS

Ellie Hale, Partnerships Director, Reflect Digital & Founder, AgencyLand

The event is generously sponsored by Christine Jardine MP. Chairing the debate will be Rachel Gilmour, Liberal Democrat MP for Tiverton and Minehead. Elected in the 2024 General Election, she brings a wealth of experience in strategic communications, having previously held senior roles including Director of Communications at the NFU, Head of Strategy at the Environment Agency, and Director of Communications at Pangea21. Her political journey began in 1995 as a local councillor, culminating in her electoral success last year.

This promises to be a lively and thought-provoking evening as the panel explores the power of print within integrated campaigns — examining creativity, emotional impact, and results. After the debate, guests are warmly invited to continue the conversation over drinks and food at the nearby Westminster Arms.

A New Narrative for Print

This debate forms part of the IPIA’s long-term strategic campaign, A New Narrative for Print, launched in 2024. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the vital role print plays in both consumer and B2B communications — and to influence key sectors including marketing, advertising, and media.

Backed by in-depth research from leading strategic consultancy Madano, the campaign seeks to challenge outdated perceptions of print and present fresh evidence of its effectiveness in driving marketing and communications engagement. By equipping marketers with compelling data and insight, A New Narrative for Print is helping to reposition print at the heart of modern, results-driven communications.
