Roland DG has completed a large-scale graphics installation at Barcelona’s Hospital de Sant Pau, converting the hospital’s paediatric and neonatology departments into immersive, educational environments through digitally printed wall graphics.
The project forms part of the company’s wider European initiative to support the humanisation of healthcare environments through visual design. Previous installations have been completed at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children in the UK and Policlinico di Milano in Italy.
Working alongside creative agency Chispum, Roland DG produced and installed approximately 2,000 square metres of graphics using its TrueVIS AP-640 resin printer. The artwork takes children on illustrated journeys through the human body, combining playful imagery with educational themes and artificial intelligence-inspired design elements to create an engaging environment for patients and visitors.
The installation is expected to be seen by around 55,000 visitors each year, helping to create a more welcoming atmosphere for children receiving treatment and their families.
A profound impact
The project was produced using Roland DG’s TrueVIS AP-640 resin printer, which combines high-quality colour reproduction with water-based resin inks suitable for sensitive indoor environments. The printer also carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, helping ensure printed graphics meet recognised indoor air quality standards for healthcare and public spaces.
