Despite significant personal changes over the past year, the industry – and especially the members of the IPIA – have remained a constant source of support.
I am proud to advocate for our industry and to promote its value at every opportunity, wherever it presents itself. A huge thank you to my colleagues and peers for your encouragement and willingness to collaborate. Without which, YPIP would not be the force majeure it has become.

Winning the Champion Award would be a true honour and a celebration of a journey that began when I was 18. Thirty years later, and as Nutshell Creative marks its 20th anniversary, I’m immensely proud of how far we’ve come, from a small start-up with big ideas to a globally operating award winning agency and Drum recommended – recognised for creativity, innovation, and passion for print. Throughout my career, I’ve championed the belief that print, mail, and physical communication connect people in ways digital never can.
That philosophy has shaped everything I do, from sitting on the IPIA Council for 8 years, leading The SMP and launching the awards for the last 4, supporting the DMA print council, launching Print Green and working globally to helping take print to global platforms like Cannes Lions and SXSW. My goal has always been to inspire others to see print not as traditional, but as modern, sustainable, and powerfully effective.
This award would not only acknowledge that mission but celebrate the people and partnerships that make our industry so dynamic. It would recognise the collective progress we’ve made, proving that collaboration, creativity, and belief can truly transform perceptions. I’d be honoured to use this platform to continue leading that conversation and encouraging the next generation to see the limitless potential of print.

Award Nomination:
Eight Group exemplifies adaptability, innovation, and resilience in trade print manufacturing. As a specialist provider to buyers and resellers, they consistently deliver cutting-edge solutions while supporting local communities through youth initiatives, apprenticeships, and education outreach. Their visionary approach blends technical excellence with social impact, inspiring the next generation and elevating industry standards. Eight Group has invested over £1.2 million in infrastructure and technology, including the UK’s first Konica Minolta KM-1e AccurioJet at its Nottingham HQ. A new mezzanine expanded fulfilment capacity, transforming its product range and profitability. The result: premium print versatility, delighted clients, and strong momentum for future investment.
Supporting Nomination Statement:
Eight Group has had a pivotal year, with its significant investment in infrastructure and new technology, which has exceeded £1.2m for the Nottingham based member. Following a thorough review of the digital print market, after a visit to DRUPA, Eight Group wanted to go big, and also go outside what many others have done, to not follow the crowd. This led to a UK first for the very latest Konica Minolta KM-1e Accuriojet ink jet press being installed at the Nottingham HQ in March. Part of this required the addition of a mezzanine floor to create a further 3,000 sq.ft of floor space to enhance its hand fulfilment capability, and capacity.
The overall investment enabled a significant shift in product range and increase in profitability with new business wins. Using innovative thinking, they can now offer high-end commercial print onto various substrates such as never-tear, mirri-board, clear acetate, and much more. Their clients have been overwhelmed with the quality and opportunities this presents and have committed to some very exciting first to market projects.
With the current growth in product range, this exciting phase will inevitably lead to further investment in finishing equipment which is already in development.

I added print management to my business Portland Media as an extension to my pre-press background. Originally established as a repro company but quickly morphing into a design and creative business over 20 years ago. I had a specific purpose in mind to establish longer and deeper relationships with clients, by offering a much wider range of services outside of reprographics, such as print, and then through selected trusted partners excelling in delivery on all fronts.
Nice to think it’s still being noticed…. thank-you.

Eight Group are one of the biggest advocates of sustainability. Every investment being made is assessed based on environmental impact and also they are investing heavily in net zero initiatives to drive their operations. Lance Hill and his whole team deserve huge credit for their consistency and commitment in this area.
Supporting Nomination Statement:
Eight Group has been on a continuous improvement journey around sustainability since Lance Hill joined the business in 2019. Initially underpinned by ISO14001 as a recognised environmental certification, we have since become carbon neutral in 2022, B Corp certified in 2023, and have also signed up to Science Based Targets (SBTi) in 2024, committing to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030.
More recently, just this year, we signed up with fellow IPIA member, Carbon Co as a Carbon Balanced Printer, which is part of their overall net zero strategy. This, alongside our Two Sides membership is evidence of their commitment to industry sustainability bodies. In October we installed PV Solar onto the roof of their Nottingham HQ, which will help accelerate toward the net zero target by 2030.
Free EV charging, and a cycle to work scheme incentivise staff to think about the environment as well. The recent installation of the Konica Minolta KM-1e has the been fitted with bespoke ducting to utilise the excess heat from the press to heat the main factory in the colder months, thus significantly reducing the need for the gas heater. LED and motion sensor lighting throughout the building also support the carbon reduction efforts. Lance Hill, our CEO, is also very active as an outward ambassador for driving down carbon emissions within the industry.
Award Nomination:
The team at Two Sides are outstanding advocates for transparency and integrity within the print and communications industry. Their work tackling greenwashing across the UK plays a vital role in ensuring that sustainability claims are honest, accurate, and truly reflect the environmental strengths of print and paper. Jonathan’s exceptional talk at the IPIA Annual Conference highlighted this mission perfectly – delivering real insight, clarity, and inspiration to industry professionals. Through their leadership, Two Sides continues to champion responsible communication and uphold the reputation of print as a sustainable, trusted medium.
Supporting Nomination Statement:
We at Two Sides are proud to have played a key role in promoting sustainability, transparency, and environmental awareness across the print, paper, and paper-based packaging industries.
Through clear, evidence-based communication, we’ve worked hard to challenge the myths and misconceptions surrounding paper products and their environmental impact. Our campaigns, resources, and educational materials are designed to help brands, businesses, and consumers make informed, responsible choices about the media they use.
Collaboration sits at the heart of everything we do. By working closely with printers, publishers, brands, and industry partners, we’ve helped create a unified, positive voice for an industry too often misunderstood in the sustainability debate. Our fact-driven approach has transformed public perception of paper — reinforcing it as a renewable, recyclable, and essential communication medium.
We’re proud to be recognised as a trusted authority and advocate for a more sustainable future for print and paper. Winning this award would be a wonderful acknowledgement of our team’s continued commitment, professionalism, and passion for championing the true environmental story of our industry.

Supporting Nomination Statement:
We’d love to win this award because sustainability isn’t just a business goal; it’s a responsibility. We’ve made it part of how we work every day, from how we source materials to how we support our clients and community.
In 2025 so far, we’ve worked with clients to carbon balance over 150,000 kg of paper, protecting more than 12,500 m² of tropical forest, and we’ve saved over 85,000 miles by consolidating orders and reducing deliveries. Winning the EcoVadis Platinum Medal was a proud moment, but more importantly, it is only the start of the journey but it demonstrates that our steady improvements are making a real difference and we are making good progress.
In the coming months there is more to come whilst we work towards a more sustainable future for us all. Our journey is simple: instead of treating sustainability as a side project, we made it the starting point. We redesigned specs to cut waste without losing creativity, supported suppliers to raise their standards, and used data to make better decisions. Along the way, our team found new pride, and our clients saw more value.
Winning this award would be a huge boost, not just for us, but for what it stands for: that doing right by people and the planet can go hand-in-hand with innovation and commercial success. We’re still learning, still improving, and still on that journey we would be honoured to have that commitment recognised.

Artworker have delivered a truly transformative advancement for the print industry with their innovative artwork software. This powerful technology can upscale small, poor-quality images into high-resolution, print-ready artwork, solving one of the most common and time-consuming challenges faced in pre-press. By streamlining workflows and improving output quality, Artworker are helping studios and print providers save valuable time, reduce errors, and deliver exceptional results. It’s a smart, practical innovation that’s already making a real difference across the industry.
Supporting Nomination Statement:
We are thrilled to be nominated for the IPIA Innovation Masterclass Award — recognition that celebrates what Artworker was built to achieve: transforming the way the print industry approaches artwork preparation through intelligent, accessible technology.
Artworker was created to solve one of pre-press’s most persistent challenges — poor-quality artwork and image resolution. Our software uses advanced AI-driven upscaling to convert small or low-quality images into crisp, print-ready files in seconds, eliminating countless hours of manual correction.
By doing so, we’ve helped print providers, designers, and studios dramatically reduce errors, streamline workflows, and deliver consistently high-quality results. But innovation for us goes beyond technology — it’s about empowerment. Artworker enables smaller studios and print businesses to compete on equal footing with larger operations, improving productivity without requiring costly equipment or specialist expertise. This democratisation of quality and efficiency reflects the core spirit of innovation we believe the IPIA exists to champion.
The positive feedback and adoption we’ve seen across the industry confirm that Artworker is not just a tool but a step forward for how print production can operate — smarter, faster, and with greater creative confidence.
Winning the Innovation Masterclass Award would be an incredible honour and a testament to our team’s belief that technology, when designed with purpose and empathy for real-world challenges, can strengthen the entire print ecosystem for the better.

Initially tasked with producing secure, personalised permits, Orion expanded the project to integrate an RFID-enabled smart card, forming the foundation of the new “MyBay” initiative. This single personalised card now provides free public toilet access, local business discounts, and parking integration, bridging civic convenience with digital innovation.
Crucially, Orion’s solution delivers dual-channel access, combining secure printed media with digital wallet compatibility, ensuring inclusivity for all residents regardless of technology access. By linking physical and digital touchpoints, Orion has extended the value of print, creating a sustainable system that enables ongoing engagement through digital notifications and mirrored print communications.
The solution also empowers Torbay Council with data insights to optimise services and campaigns. Designed for scalability, Orion’s in-house system can be adapted for other councils or sectors, representing a model for how print and smart technology can coexist to deliver measurable community value. Orion’s “MyBay” project redefines innovation in print, not by replacing it, but by making it smarter, more connected, and more meaningful than ever.

While its growth has been significant, CDP’s commitment to the community has never wavered. From the very beginning, it has understood that its success was intrinsically linked to the wellbeing of the communities it serves.
This understanding led to initiatives like “Love Jobs,” where it offers free printing services to local organisations such as scouts, churches, and community groups. It was about making a tangible difference in people’s lives. Its ethos of giving back is also reflected in its long-standing tradition of supporting regional charities.
Over the years, CDP has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for these organisations, driven by a desire to contribute positively to society. This commitment to social responsibility is not just a corporate policy; it’s a core value that informs every aspect of the business.
Supporting Nomination Statement:
CDP is the embodiment of community spirit in action, within its local area, among clients, and across the wider print industry. For over 15 years, CDP has raised more than £100,000 for charities and local causes, including over £40,000 for The Jamie Carragher 23 Foundation, supporting disadvantaged young people nationwide.
Beyond fundraising, CDP actively supports client-led community projects, such as sponsoring a local hospital’s Employee of the Month awards and contributing to housing association initiatives through donations, free print, and staff volunteering. One standout project, the Shamrock Gardening Club, enabled older residents to create a social gardening space that combats loneliness and promotes wellbeing.
Every CDP employee receives two paid volunteering days annually, with activities ranging from foodbank work and litter picks to school careers events.

They sponsor two grassroots, not for profit, football teams, have an annual community half day out where the entire business closes for a local team building exercise. Supporting Nomination Statement:
As a long-standing IPIA member, we at Epson UK are proud to have supported local charities and educational institutions in our home county of Hertfordshire for many years. Our team regularly works with local schools such as Longdean School, helping students with work experience, interview practice, and career guidance.
Most recently, our colleagues spent the day at Watford Workshop, working alongside differently abled staff employed by the charity — an inspiring and humbling experience for everyone involved. Each year, our employees also select a local charity to support, with Epson matching all personal donations to maximise the impact.
Our current charity partner is the Human Milk Foundation (HMF), which benefits not only from the funds we raise but also from our hands-on help. Our team has spent time refurbishing their facility, wrapping a vehicle to help promote their incredible work, and producing branded merchandise for the charity to sell online and at events.
We believe that giving back should be part of our culture, not just a campaign. That’s why every Epson employee receives a paid charity day each year to dedicate their time and energy to causes close to their hearts. Supporting our community is something we take immense pride in — and we’re committed to continuing that work for years to come.

Supporting Nomination Statement:
Having worked in the graphics industry for more years than I care to admit to, I am honoured to be nominated for this award.
I am passionate about the printing industry and have been lucky enough to be working for HP and with the IPIA for a number of years now. Our industry has some of the brightest minds, is incredibly innovative and (in my opinion) not recognised enough for the part it plays in the UK economy. The IPIA has collaboration at it’s heart and works tirelessly to give our industry the voice it deserves. I was extremely privileged to be part of the IPIA delegation to 10 Downing Street to raise our case for printing to be seen as an industry in its own right.
I hope I have always been true to my own values of respect, collaboration, collective learning, supporting the youth in our industry and sustainability in everything I have done. Working for HP for 20+ years, mainly in the large format business, I have loved seeing projects brought to life by customers and seeing young people grow and flourish. Myself and my colleagues have brought our interns to the IPIA events to watch, listen and learn and the IPIA is a fantastic forum to make this happen.
Here’s to a great future for the IPIA and its members.
